Summary

A posterior capsule rupture during cataract surgery can be managed effectively. Anterior laser capsulotomy aids secure intraocular lens fixation, ensuring excellent visual outcomes.

Background:

Routine laser-assisted cataract surgery involves anterior laser capsulotomy and lens fragmentation.
A case study details an unexpected posterior capsule rupture during the hydropolishing stage.

Observation:

The rupture occurred without vitreous loss in an 84-year-old female patient.
The intraocular lens (IOL) haptics were placed in the ciliary sulcus.
The IOL optic was secured within the capsular bag by the anterior laser capsulotomy.

Findings:

The anterior laser capsulotomy facilitated secure intraocular lens positioning despite the posterior capsule rupture.
Postoperative visual outcomes were excellent, with no further complications.
