Background:

  • Primary intestinal lymphangiectasia (PIL) is a rare protein-losing enteropathy characterized by lymphatic leakage in the small intestine.
  • PIL leads to hypoalbuminemia, lymphocytopenia, hypogammaglobulinemia, and impaired cell-mediated immunity, increasing susceptibility to infections and lymphoma.
  • Chronic viral infections are uncommon complications of PIL, with limited reports of human papilloma virus (HPV)-induced warts.
