Background:

Understanding factors influencing adolescent creativity is crucial for educational interventions.
Previous research has explored various cognitive and environmental factors related to creativity.
The relationship between study habits and creative thinking remains underexplored, particularly in diverse cultural contexts.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the potential correlation between adolescents' approaches to studying and their creative performance.
To examine if specific study strategies are associated with higher levels of creativity.
To contribute empirical data on the interplay of academic and creative domains in Caribbean youth.

Main Methods:

A sample of 308 Caribbean adolescents participated in the study.
Participants completed the Approaches to Studying Inventory.
Creativity was assessed using Torrance's Circles Test and Guilford and Hoepfner's Unusual Uses Test.

Main Results:

No statistically significant correlations were found between the Approaches to Studying Inventory scores and creativity measures.
Neither the Circles Test nor the Unusual Uses Test showed a significant relationship with any approach to studying.
The findings indicate no direct association between study methods and creative output in this adolescent population.

Conclusions:

The study's results suggest that approaches to studying, as measured, do not significantly predict creative performance in Caribbean adolescents.
Further research is needed to explore other potential mediators or moderators of creativity in this demographic.
Educational strategies aimed at fostering creativity may need to focus on factors beyond conventional study approaches.
