Mitochondrial disorders (MIDs) can cause various blood abnormalities, most commonly anemia. These hematological issues, including low platelets and white blood cells, may be the primary sign of MIDs.

- Hematological findings can be the primary or a secondary manifestation of mitochondrial disorders.
- These findings highlight the importance of hematological evaluation in the diagnostic workup of suspected MIDs.
