Abstract:
Cycle monitoring is performed by daily determination of LH, estradiol and sonography of the ovaries, up to day 10 of the cycle. Endocrinological disturbances can be detected by this monitoring: a missing LH peak, in spite of a normal estradiol concentration, can be interpreted as a cause of infertility. Also an insufficient growth of the follicles can interfere with fertility. The dissociation between LH peak and estradiol plateau in the serum is still open to debate.
