    Background:

    • Lens dislocation into the vitreous humor is a serious condition requiring surgical intervention.
    • Phacolytic uveitis and elevated intraocular pressure can complicate lens dislocation.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To describe surgical techniques for extracting dislocated lenses from the vitreous.
    • To evaluate the indications and prognosis for this surgical procedure.

    Main Methods:

    • Modified Barraquer's method for lens extraction.
    • Vitrectomy performed via open sky (2 cases) or pars plana (12 cases) approach.
    • Pre-operative inflammation control with steroids for phacolytic uveitis.

    Main Results:

    • Successful extraction of dislocated lenses in all fourteen eyes.
    • Significant improvement in visual acuity, provided no co-existing chorioretinal atrophy or glaucoma.
    • Post-operative normalization of intraocular pressure without medication in eight previously hypertensive cases.

    Conclusions:

    • Vitreous surgery is a safe and effective method for extracting dislocated lenses.
    • Early surgical extraction of dislocated lenses is recommended to prevent irreversible ocular damage.
    • The described techniques offer good visual and pressure outcomes.
