[Mechanical preparation of root canals using a Canalfinder as compared with hand-operated instruments]

In an in vitro study of 134 teeth the efficacy of manual canal preparation was compared with that of the mechanical method using the Canalfinder system. The superiority of the mechanical instrument in narrow and curved root canals is particularly evident in the buccal segment. Since, however, the canal lumen and the master point are not perfectly equal, it is necessary to finish the preparation with conventional hand instruments.
