Background:

Robin sequence (RS) is a congenital condition characterized by micrognathia, glossoptosis, and airway obstruction.
Current management of RS patients in Europe lacks standardized protocols, leading to practice variations.

Purpose of the Study:

To survey European clinicians regarding current practice patterns in the definition, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of Robin sequence (RS).
To identify variations in RS management across different European countries.

Main Methods:

An online survey was distributed to European clinicians involved in RS patient care.
Data collected included respondent/clinic characteristics, RS definitions, diagnostic methods (sleep studies, endoscopy), and treatment strategies (airway management, surgical interventions).

Main Results:

Surveys from 101 European clinics showed 56 different definitions of RS.
Sleep study systems (72%) and flexible endoscopy (63%) were commonly used for diagnosis.
Treatment varied significantly, with prone positioning (63%) for mild obstruction and nasopharyngeal airway (62%) as common interventions. Mandibular distraction was frequent for severe obstruction.
Catch-up growth was reported in three-quarters of patients.

Conclusions:

This survey highlights considerable heterogeneity in Robin sequence definition and management across Europe.
The establishment of national and international guidelines is recommended to optimize care for RS patients.
