Keratan sulfate (KS), an inhibitor of nerve regeneration, plays a role in immune diseases. Mice lacking the N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc)-6-O-sulfotransferase 1 gene showed reduced experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) severity.
