Summary

Parathyroid exploration surgery can cause thyroiditis due to thyroid gland manipulation. This case report highlights underreported post-operative transient thyroiditis following parathyroidectomy.

Parathyroid exploration surgery, often for parathyroid (PTH) hyperplasia, involves thyroid gland manipulation.
Vigorous manipulation during surgery poses a risk of developing post-operative thyroiditis.
Post-operative thyroiditis is a recognized but underreported complication with varied clinical presentations.

Observation:

A 33-year-old male developed transient thyroiditis three days after parathyroidectomy.
The patient's condition presented following surgical intervention for PTH hyperplasia.

Findings:

The case illustrates a specific instance of post-operative transient thyroiditis.
The clinical manifestations, though varied, were observed in this patient post-surgery.
