Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) is more effective than binocular indirect ophthalmoscopy (BIO) for diagnosing preoperative maculopathy before cataract surgery. SD-OCT also revealed increased central foveal thickness (CFT) in diabetic patients post-surgery.
