[Periotest method for diagnosis of marginal inflammations]

Using traditional recognized parameters, 271 periodontal cases were examined to determine the degree of inflammation and attachment loss. The values were compared to the Periotest-instrument. The correlation between the two methods concerning the inflammatory process was significant to insignificant. The discrepancy can be ascribed to the variation in the periodontium as well as individual patient variation.
