    Context:

    • Primary hyperparathyroidism (HPT) is a condition characterized by excessive parathyroid hormone (PTH) production.
    • HPT can lead to various clinical manifestations, including renal lithiasis and bone disease.
    • Understanding the clinical and laboratorial features of HPT is crucial for accurate diagnosis and management.

    Purpose:

    • To analyze the clinical and laboratorial features of patients with surgically confirmed primary hyperparathyroidism.
    • To identify common and uncommon findings in HPT patients, particularly regarding renal and bone complications.
    • To evaluate the effectiveness of different diagnostic tests for HPT.

    Summary:

    • This study examined 13 patients with primary hyperparathyroidism, noting that 8 had renal lithiasis and 7 had bone disease.
    • All patients exhibited hypercalcemia and elevated serum PTH levels. While hypercalciuria and intestinal calcium hyperabsorption were uncommon, serum calcium and urinary cyclic AMP (c'AMP) proved to be effective screening tests.
