Hypocretin/orexin prevents recovery from sickness

Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced sickness behavior increases non-REM sleep. Mice lacking hypocretin neurons showed deeper sleep and faster recovery, suggesting a role for hypocretin in regulating sleep arousal during illness.
