Quality Assurance01:19

Quality Assurance

3.9K
Quality assurance is the overarching term used to describe the activities employed to ensure the proper performance of a system. These activities can be classified into three categories: quality control, quality assessment, and internal corrective measures. Typically, these activities work cyclically: quality control is performed before and during the analysis, while quality assessment occurs during and after the investigation. Internal corrective measures are implemented based on the findings...

Feedback Inhibition

Biochemical reactions are occurring constantly in cells, converting starting substances to different products, usually with the help of enzymes that speed the reactions. Without enzymes, it would take far too long for most reactions to occur to be useful to the cell!

Ethics in Research01:56

Ethics in Research

26.2K
Today, scientists agree that good research is ethical in nature and is guided by a basic respect for human dignity and safety. However, this has not always been the case. Modern researchers must demonstrate that the research they perform is ethically sound.

Proofreading

Synthesis of new DNA molecules is carried out by the enzyme DNA polymerase, which adds nucleotides on the daughter strand complementary to the template DNA strand. DNA polymerase has a higher affinity to add the correct base and ensures fidelity during DNA replication. Furthermore,  it exhibits proofreading activity during replication, using an exonuclease domain that cuts off incorrect nucleotides from the nascent DNA strand.
Errors During Replication are Corrected by the DNA Polymerase...

Guidelines for Writing Outcome01:11

Guidelines for Writing Outcome

4.2K
When developing expected outcomes for a patient care plan, the nurse should adhere to the following recommendations:
Patient outcomes reflect the patient's response to the goal rather than what the nurse aims to achieve. Terminology should be observable and measurable to avoid the reader's interpretation. The desired outcome should be realistic and achievable in the designated care timeframe. Expected outcomes should align with adjunctive therapies. The outcome should enhance care...

    Summary

Healthcare capital decision-making requires evidence-based analysis and value-based payment modeling. Granular project reviews and post-project analysis improve financial strategies and ensure defensible proposals.

    Area of Science:

    • Healthcare Finance
    • Health Services Management
    • Decision Analysis

    Background:

    • Traditional capital decision-making in healthcare often relies on volume-based pro formas.
    • The shift towards value-based payment necessitates new financial modeling approaches.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To identify key insights and best practices for capital decision-making in healthcare.
    • To improve the rigor and defensibility of capital project proposals.

    Main Methods:

    • Reviewing internal and external industry best practices.
    • Comparing scenario modeling under value-based payment versus traditional methods.
    • Analyzing large capital projects at a granular level.
    • Implementing a comprehensive look-back process for approved projects.
