Rabies

Rabies is a lethal zoonotic disease caused by a single-stranded, negative-sense RNA virus of the Lyssavirus genus, within the family Rhabdoviridae. Purpose of the Study:

  • Absorbed doses were estimated using U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) 2012 standard operating procedures (SOPs) for postapplication exposure.
  • Acute (24-h) absorbed doses were calculated for residents, including toddlers and adults.
  • Secondary exposure was assessed by monitoring pet owner socks to measure residue transfer from the household environment.
