Abstract:
This chapter has surveyed the known differences between men and women with respect to rheumatic and valvular heart disease. The gender disparities noted are important aspects of the pathophysiology of each of the diseases discussed, such that any complete understanding of their etiology, natural history, and therapeutics should take this variability into account.
