Inflammatory pseudotumor (pseudosarcoma) of the bladder, a benign lesion, can mimic cancer. Surgical excision is an effective treatment for this rare condition in adolescents.

Background:

  • Inflammatory pseudotumor (pseudosarcoma) is a rare, benign submucosal bladder lesion.
  • It is frequently misdiagnosed as malignant neoplasm due to clinical and histological similarities.

Observation:

  • Two adolescent patients presented with gross, painless hematuria.
  • Endoscopic examination revealed large, polypoid, and ulcerated bladder masses.

Findings:

  • Initial biopsies were interpreted as poorly differentiated sarcoma.
  • Subsequent reviews confirmed a benign process, resembling nodular fasciitis.

Implications:

  • This highlights the importance of thorough pathological review for accurate diagnosis.
