DNA methylation and NF-Y regulate Piwil1 expression during chicken spermatogenesis

Chicken Piwil1 gene expression in germ cells is regulated by the transcription factor nuclear factor Y (NF-Y) binding to a CCAAT box. Differential DNA methylation silences Piwil1 in non-germ cells.
