Patients who had strokes and later developed epilepsy showed more reduced regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) and oxygen consumption (rCMRO2) in the brain's infarcted area. Further research is needed to determine if these PET findings cause or result from seizures.

- The causal relationship between these metabolic changes and seizure occurrence remains undetermined.
