Summary

The cause of posterior urethral valves is unclear. Identical pathology in non-twin siblings and differing presentations in identical twins suggest both inherited and random genetic factors, warranting urologic screening for male siblings.

Background:

  • Posterior urethral valves (PUV) are a congenital anomaly affecting the urethra.
