Summary

A new, cost-effective method using single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping can identify Japanese individuals at risk for carbamazepine-related Stevens-Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis (SJS/TEN) by detecting the HLA-A*31:01 marker.
