    Background:

    • Chronic sinusitis is a common condition.
    • Nasal septum deviation is a frequent anatomical variation.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the correlation between nasal septum deviation and chronic sinusitis.
    • To determine if the location or severity of nasal septum deviation influences sinusitis development.

    Main Methods:

    • Coronal CT scans of 722 patients were analyzed.
    • Prevalence of nasal septum deviation and chronic sinusitis was statistically assessed.
    • Comparison of sinusitis incidence based on deviation presence, side, and height.

    Main Results:

    • Patients with nasal septum deviation had a significantly higher incidence of chronic sinusitis (54.13%) compared to those without (44.66%).
    • High nasal septum deviations showed a statistically significant higher incidence of sinusitis (59.54%) than non-high deviations (46.97%).
    • No significant difference in sinusitis incidence was found between wide (31.65%) and narrow (32.12%) deviations, or between upper deviation sides (54 vs. 66 cases).

    Conclusions:

    • Nasal septum deviation is significantly associated with the development of chronic sinusitis.
    • High nasal septum deviations represent a greater risk factor for chronic sinusitis.
    • The laterality of nasal septum deviation does not appear to influence the incidence of chronic sinusitis.
