Atrial fibrillation cardioversion following acupuncture

• Acupuncture was administered as an adjunctive therapy alongside oral propafenone prior to electrical cardioversion.

Findings:

• The patient received 10 acupuncture sessions over a 30-day period.
• Immediate cardioversion to sinus rhythm was observed following acupuncture treatment.
• No recurrence of paroxysmal AF was noted during the 30-day follow-up period.

Implications:

• Acupuncture may serve as a viable complementary therapy for managing atrial fibrillation, particularly in patients intolerant to standard medications.
