Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the impact of specialized diets or nutritional advice on women experiencing multiple pregnancies (two or more fetuses).

Main Methods:

  • A systematic search was conducted using the Cochrane Pregnancy and Childbirth Group's Trials Register up to June 15, 2015.
  • Inclusion criteria focused on randomized controlled trials, quasi-random studies, and cluster-randomized trials involving women with multiple pregnancies and their infants.
  • Exclusion criteria included cross-over trials and studies reported only as abstracts.

Main Results:

  • No eligible trials were identified for inclusion in this review.
  • A thorough search of the specified database yielded no potentially eligible trial reports.

Conclusions:

  • Currently, there is insufficient robust evidence from randomized trials to support or refute the use of specialized diets or nutritional advice for women with multiple pregnancies.
  • A significant need exists for conducting a well-designed randomized controlled trial to address this knowledge gap.
