[Epidemiology of dementias: methodologic considerations]
Abstract:
In this article epidemiological studies of dementia states are review to document the current approaches. Objectives, instruments, risk factors and sampling definition are valuable aspects which have been reviewed. A two-phase study and a standardised interview and examination schedule CAMDEX (The Cambridge Examination for Mental Disorders of the Elderly) are suggested by the authors as promising strategies for the future research.
