Abstract:
This article reviews the paradigm shift that has characterized the growth of behavioral medicine and the impact of this field in family medicine education. Research studies summarizing the integration of these two disciplines are presented. It is concluded that of all medical specialties, family medicine is best suited to facilitate this continued rapprochement. Practical examples are presented in the form of two case studies.
