Summary

Obese children exhibit lower cardiorespiratory fitness, measured by ventilatory anaerobic threshold (VAT), compared to normal-weight peers. This fitness level, assessed by VAT, is reduced in overweight youth but can be evaluated without a maximal exercise test.
