Summary

Exponential apparent diffusion coefficient (eADC) shows promise in prostate cancer evaluation. This diffusion-weighted imaging technique offers similar diagnostic utility to apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) while improving tissue contrast.

  • Exponential apparent diffusion coefficient (eADC) is a novel metric derived from DWI.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess the feasibility of eADC in differentiating prostate cancers.
  • To compare the diagnostic performance of eADC versus ADC in prostate cancer evaluation.
  • To investigate the impact of eADC on lesion-to-background contrast.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective analysis of pre-operative DWI at 3T in 74 prostate cancer patients.
  • Measurement of eADC and ADC for tumors and benign peripheral zone (PZ).

  • eADC offers comparable diagnostic utility to ADC for cancer differentiation.
  • eADC may provide improved tissue contrast, potentially mitigating T2 shine-through effects.
