Genetic variations in the IL-27 gene, specifically rs153109 and rs17855750, are associated with pre-eclampsia risk in Han Chinese women. Certain genotypes of IL-27 (rs153109) may reduce susceptibility, while others (rs17855750) might increase the risk of developing pre-eclampsia.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the association between Interleukin-27 (IL-27) gene polymorphisms and susceptibility to pre-eclampsia.
  • To explore the potential of IL-27 variants as biomarkers for pre-eclampsia risk in Han Chinese women.

Main Methods:

  • A case-control study involving 663 pregnant women (212 pre-eclampsia cases, 451 controls).
  • Genotyping of IL-27 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) rs153109 and rs17855750 using Polymerase Chain Reaction - Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PCR-RFLP).

  • Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the IL-27 gene may influence an individual's susceptibility to pre-eclampsia.
  • The IL-27 variants rs153109 and rs17855750 could serve as potential genetic markers for pre-eclampsia susceptibility.
