Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the relationship between finger and toe temperatures and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).
  • To assess the impact of lifestyle modifications and exercises on LUTS in individuals sensitive to cold stress.

Main Methods:

  • 50 participants were divided into cold-sensitive (CS) and cold non-sensitive (CNS) groups.
  • Assessed International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), Overactive Bladder Symptom Score (OABSS), and Quality of Life (QOL) scores.
  • Measured finger and toe temperatures before and after a 5-10 minute exercise intervention, with reassessment of scores after two weeks.

Main Results:

  • Exercise increased middle toe temperature in both groups, with a greater increase observed in the CS group.
  • The CS group exhibited higher LUTS storage symptoms compared to the CNS group.
  • Following lifestyle changes and exercise, the CS group showed improvement in their LUTS.

Conclusions:

  • Lifestyle improvements and regular exercise may effectively manage lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in individuals sensitive to cold.
  • Targeting peripheral circulation through exercise could be a beneficial strategy for managing LUTS in cold-sensitive populations.
