[Late orbital complications following subcutaneous silicone injection]

A case is reported of a 48-year-old woman who had subcutaneous liquid silicone injections in the forehead for cosmetic reasons Twenty years later she developed an acute inflammation of the eyelids and orbits, which led to immobilization of the lids and globes. Treatment consisted mainly of topical application of cortisone and heparin; the symptoms almost completely regressed in about 2-3 months.
