Scaling

658
In designing and analyzing filters, resonant circuits, or circuit analysis at large, working with standard element values like 1 ohm, 1 henry, or 1 farad can be convenient before scaling these values to more realistic figures. This approach is widely utilized by not employing realistic element values in numerous examples and problems; it simplifies mastering circuit analysis through convenient component values. The complexity of calculations is thereby reduced, with the understanding that...

Ratio Level of Measurement00:54

Ratio Level of Measurement

22.5K
The way a set of data is measured is called its level of measurement. Correct statistical procedures depend on a researcher being familiar with levels of measurement. For analysis, data are classified into four levels of measurement—nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio.
A set of data measured using the ratio scale takes care of the ratio problem and provides complete information. Ratio scale data are like interval scale data, except they have a zero point and ratios can be calculated....

Differential Leveling01:12

Differential Leveling

883
Differential leveling is a precise method in surveying used to determine the elevation difference between two points. Its primary goal is to establish accurate vertical measurements to create level surfaces or grade lines critical for designing and constructing infrastructures such as roads, bridges, and buildings. The procedure for differential leveling begins with setting up and leveling the instrument at a point where the benchmark can be seen. The level rod is held on the benchmark (BM), and...

Dimensional Analysis

68.3K
Dimensional analysis, also known as the factor label method, is a versatile approach for mathematical operations. The main principle behind this approach is: the units of quantities must be subjected to the same mathematical operations as their associated numbers. This method can be applied to computations ranging from simple unit conversions to more complex and multi-step calculations involving several different quantities and their units.

Statistical Analysis System (SAS)

1.2K
SAS, short for Statistical Analysis System, is a powerful data analysis, management, and visualization tool. Developed by the SAS Institute in the early 1970s, SAS has evolved into a comprehensive software suite used across various industries for statistical analysis, business intelligence, and predictive modeling.
Applications: SAS finds applications in numerous fields, including healthcare for clinical trial analysis, finance for risk assessment, marketing for customer data analysis, and...

Summary

This study explored temperament differences between So-Yang and So-Eum Sasang types using the Behavioral Inhibition System/Behavioral Activation System (BIS/BAS) scale. Findings reveal distinct BIS/BAS profiles differentiating these Korean constitutional types, particularly in males and females.

Area of Science:

  • Personalized Medicine
  • Psychology
  • Biopsychology

Background:

  • Sasang typology is a traditional Korean constitutional medicine.
  • Understanding the biopsychological mechanisms of Sasang types is crucial.
  • Temperament differences may underlie Sasang constitutional types.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate temperament variations between So-Yang (SY) and So-Eum (SE) Sasang types.
  • To utilize the Behavioral Inhibition System/Behavioral Activation System (BIS/BAS) scale for this examination.
  • To elucidate potential biopsychological underpinnings of Sasang typology.

Main Methods:

  • 248 university students were classified into Sasang types.
  • T-tests were performed to compare BIS/BAS scores between SY and SE types.
  • Analyses were conducted separately for male and female participants.

Main Results:

  • Significant differences in BIS/BAS subscales were observed between SY and SE types, considering gender.
  • Male SY types exhibited higher BAS-total scores than SE types.
  • Female SY types showed lower BIS scores compared to SE types.

Conclusions:

  • The study suggests a link between Sasang typology and BIS/BAS dimensions.
  • Significant temperament differences exist between SY and SE Sasang types.
  • Further research into the biological basis of Sasang typology is warranted.
