Abstract:
Following a great number of transabdominal and intrarectal ultrasonographies the authors analyse the significance of the method int the diagnostics of the prostatic diseases. The technique and conditions of the performance of both examinations are described. The ultrasonic signs of different prostatic diseases are discussed in details and the value of intrarectal ultrasonography in the recognition and diagnostics of the prostatic cancer is analysed. The attention is drawn to the fact that the data of ultrasonography alone are not sufficient for making the correct diagnosis, results of the traditional diagnostic techniques (manual examination, cytology, histology, cystoscopy) must also be taken into consideration.
