Refinement of the scrap technique of skin grafting

A technique to obtain a sheet of meshed skin by assembling many small skin grafts is described. The merits of this technique are that a meshed skin graft of desired size and shape is obtained using many small pieces of skin, and moreover, these pieces of skin do not break down when meshed or when applied to the recipient bed, since the graft is reinforced by a plastic film. Graft survivals and epithelialization of the wound are excellent. This technique is especially useful in extensively burned patients with a limited and scattered donor area, and also for patients who require stamp grafts but are not cooperative enough to keep still for prolonged periods after surgery.
