Dynamic neuroendocrine changes in critically ill patients with polytrauma

Conclusions:
- Critical illness in polytrauma patients causes trauma severity-dependent alterations in thyroid axis response.
- Dynamic hormonal monitoring is more informative than single measurements.
- Further research is needed before considering supplemental therapy for NTIS.
