    Purpose of the Study:

    • To develop an image-enhanced, high-accuracy integral videography (IV) overlay system for augmented reality (AR) surgical applications.
    • To improve the resolution and spatial accuracy of IV images for better surgical visualization.

    Main Methods:

    • Designed a flexible optical image enhancement system (IES) to boost IV image resolution and quality.
    • Developed a novel IV rendering algorithm to correct for micro lens array distortions and enhance spatial accuracy.

    Main Results:

    • The image enhancement system (IES) improved IV image resolution to 1 mm.
    • Achieved relative accuracy deviations of -4.68 ± 0.83% in depth and -9.01 ± 0.42% laterally.
    • Validated improvements in image accuracy and resolution through preliminary experiments.

    Conclusions:

    • The proposed image-enhanced IV overlay system significantly improves image accuracy and resolution for AR surgical guidance.
    • This technology has the potential to further enhance the safety and precision of image-guided surgeries.
