Flexible bronchoscopy is a common pulmonology procedure. This report details a rare case of subconjunctival hemorrhage as an immediate complication, highlighting an unusual side effect of this widely used diagnostic and therapeutic tool.

Background:

Flexible bronchoscopy is a cornerstone diagnostic and therapeutic procedure in pulmonology, with nearly 50 years of use.
Its applications are expanding due to advancements like endobronchial ultrasound and navigational bronchoscopy.
While generally safe, potential complications include fever, hypoxemia, bleeding, and pneumothorax.

Observation:

A case report of subconjunctival hemorrhage occurring immediately after flexible bronchoscopy is presented.
This specific complication is noted as being exceptionally rare in the medical literature.

Findings:

Subconjunctival hemorrhage is identified as a previously undocumented immediate complication of flexible bronchoscopy.
