Erectile Dysfunction, Boredom, and Hypersexuality among Coupled Men from Two European Countries

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

• To explore the interrelationships between hypersexuality, ED, and sexual boredom.
• To examine these associations in a sample of coupled men from European communities.

• An internet-based survey was conducted across Croatia and Germany.
• Participants (N=1121) completed validated questionnaires: Hypersexual Disorder Screening Inventory, International Index of Erectile Function, and Sexual Boredom Scale.

• Hypersexuality showed a significant positive correlation with proneness to sexual boredom.

• Hypersexual behavior might function as a coping strategy for boredom stemming from a lack of sexual fantasy.
• Erectile dysfunction can coexist with hypersexuality within intimate relationships.
• Findings highlight the complex interplay between sexual desire, function, and psychological states.
