To establish a clear definition of nursing workload based on existing literature.
To clarify the defining attributes of nursing workload.

Concept analysis using Walker and Avant's method.
Literature search focused on the Cumulative Index for Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL).
Exclusion of articles not using 'workload' in the title or abstract; construction of model, contrary, and related cases.

Five main categories of nursing workload attributes were identified: nursing time, nursing competency, direct patient care, physical exertion, and care complexity.
