  • A 28% decrease in SICU mortality rates following EHR implementation (12.2% vs 8.8%).
  • A significant increase in the average number of coded diagnoses from 17.8 to 20.8.

Conclusions:

  • EHR implementation demonstrated a statistically significant association with reduced CLABSI rates and SICU mortality.
  • The EHR played a crucial role in quality improvement initiatives, potentially explaining observed reductions in CLABSI and mortality.
  • Further research is warranted to explore the comprehensive impact of EHR systems on ICU quality of care.
