    Summary

    A 47-year-old patient experienced eye discomfort, ear bleeding, and leg itching due to ophthalmomyiasis. Manual maggot extraction from the eye and symptomatic treatment led to improvement.

    • Ophthalmomyiasis, the infestation of the eye by fly larvae, is a rare condition.
    • Prompt diagnosis and treatment are crucial to prevent complications.

    Observation:

    • A 47-year-old patient presented with eye discomfort, ear bleeding, and pruritus on both legs.
    • Ophthalmomyiasis was diagnosed via ocular examination, revealing maggots in the ocular fornix.
    • Maggots were also identified in the external auditory meatus and interdigital spaces of the toes.

    Findings:

    • Manual extraction of maggots from the left eye was successful.
    • Symptomatic therapy was initiated.
    • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) ruled out deeper cranial structure involvement.
