  • To highlight the diagnostic and surgical management of an adrenal teratoma.
  • To discuss the histological findings of a mature teratoma.

Main Methods:

  • Case presentation of a 19-year-old male with lumbar pain.
  • Imaging revealing a complex right adrenal cyst with calcification.
  • Surgical en bloc excision of the retroperitoneal mass.
  • Gross and histological examination of the tumor.

Main Results:

  • A mature teratoma was confirmed arising from the right adrenal gland.
  • The teratoma contained bone, teeth, and hair within a cystic structure.
  • The patient experienced an uneventful recovery and follow-up.

Conclusions:

  • Adrenal teratomas, though rare, should be considered in the differential diagnosis of adrenal masses.
  • Complete surgical excision is the primary treatment modality.
  • Long-term follow-up is essential for patients with teratomas.
