    Summary

    Routine excretory urography is not indicated for asymptomatic cryptorchid patients. This review of 140 cases found no specific need for the imaging procedure in males without urologic symptoms.

    Background:

    • Undescended testes (cryptorchidism) affect 1-4% of male infants.
    • Associated genitourinary anomalies occur in 10-20% of cryptorchid cases.
    • The role of imaging in asymptomatic cryptorchidism remains debated.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the necessity of excretory urography in asymptomatic cryptorchid patients.
    • To compare findings with existing literature on imaging in cryptorchidism.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective review of excretory urograms from 140 cryptorchid patients.
    • Analysis of patients with and without associated urologic symptoms.
