Summary

Cognitive remediation is a growing research area, but optimal training targets remain unclear.
Targeting foundational cognitive processes like working memory and processing speed may yield broader benefits.

Purpose of the Study:

Investigate near-transfer gains in working memory and processing speed after targeted training in schizophrenia.
Assess far-transfer effects on other neurocognitive and social cognitive domains.
Evaluate improvements in real-world daily functioning post-training.

Main Methods:

Double-blind, randomized controlled trial with 81 schizophrenia patients.
Three parallel groups: working memory training, processing speed training, and no-training control.
10-week home-based training (30 min/day, 5 days/week); pre- and post-training assessments.
