[Neuralgic amyotrophy--a case report]

• Clinical examination revealed paresis of extensor muscles and elbow flexion contracture over a 6-month period.

Findings:

• Electrophysiological studies indicated axonal damage to the long thoracic, axillary, and posterior interosseous nerves.
• The patient was diagnosed with neuralgic amyotrophy based on clinical presentation and electrodiagnostic findings.

Implications:

• This case highlights the importance of considering neuralgic amyotrophy in patients with persistent, unexplained upper limb weakness and pain.
• Prompt diagnosis and initiation of corticosteroid therapy, such as prednisone, can lead to significant clinical improvement and recovery.
