[Prostaglandins in periodontology]

On the basis of critical review of the literature, the Author describes the role played by prostaglandins and other arachidonic acid metabolites in the pathogenesis of the periodontal lesion, emphasizing the possible future applications of such theoretical knowledges in the therapy of periodontal diseases.
