The gland has two lateral lobes connected by a thin tissue mass called the isthmus. Summary

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients have a significantly higher prevalence of hypothyroidism compared to controls. This highlights the need for increased awareness of thyroid dysfunction in SLE management.
