Direct implantation of the TriboFit acetabular buffer caused severe backside abrasion and articular surface stippling. This indicates adhesive wear and excessive buffer movement against the native acetabulum, leading to implant failure.
Area of Science:
- Biomaterials Science
- Orthopedic Surgery
- Wear Debris Analysis
Background:
- The TriboFit acetabular buffer is designed for direct implantation against the native acetabulum.
- Understanding implant failure mechanisms is crucial for improving orthopedic device longevity.
