  • Utilized data from the 2003-2006 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (N=5462 adults).
  • Assessed moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) via accelerometry.
  • Classified participants into accurate, overestimate, or underestimate weight perception groups based on BMI and self-perception.

  • Females who perceived themselves as normal weight but were overweight engaged in 13% less MVPA.
  • Older adults (>60 years) with this same discrepant perception engaged in 23% less MVPA.
  • Negative binomial regression analysis revealed significant associations.
